The Abrams Main Battle Tank is the current service MBT of the U.S. Army and several other countries. It was developed in the 1970s to replace the aging Patton series in American service. Unlike the failed MBT-70 project, the downfall of which was the widespread use of experimental technologies along with an extremely high price tag, the Abrams was designed to use modern but affordable and reliable components. What made it different from the Patton series was the use of Chobham composite armor and a gas turbine for propulsion, earning it the nickname "Whispering Death".

The XM1A3 is hypothetical upgrade to the Abrams series, as envisaged by this game's developers. It is based on the latest M1A2, but includes several experimental systems such as the Fastdraw automatic loading system, but the most important was the XM360 120mm smoothbore gun (initially intended for the cancelled Future Combat System program). Its ballistic properties are, according to available sources, comparable to the M256, but the gun is lighter and slightly longer. Its variant developed specifically for the Abrams is called XM360E1. It is possible that this will indeed be the future weapon of the upgraded Abrams.

The M1A3 is the ultimate version of the Abrams. Four vehicles from the initial production run were all undergoing trials in the desert when the order to return to the USA came and they were left behind along with most of the other equipment used by the U.S. forces. The prototypes were soon after seized by scavengers and sold to the highest bidder within days due to the concern that Uncle Sam might be coming for his lost toys.

The highest bidder turned out to be none other than Clayburn Industries with Andrew Clayburn allegedly taking personal interest in acquiring these fearsome machines. One of these Abrams tanks, "Aces", became the personal vehicle of Kathryn Grey who used it to great effect in Clayburn Industries service.

Vehicle Traits

• Armored: This vehicle's armor can withstand a lot of punishment, allowing it to survive even serious firefights.
• Heavy Weapon: This vehicle carries one of the largest weapons around with significantly increased damage per shot.
• Weapon Diversity: This vehicle has several weapons or mode of fire options that you can switch between in battle.
• Ready Rack: This vehicle features a Ready Rack, which consists of several easily accessible rounds. It can fire several rounds in rapid succession, after which the reload time increases. Ready Rack reloads automatically when not in combat.
• Gas Turbine: This vehicle is powered by a gas turbine, providing smoother acceleration compared to an ordinary diesel.
• Modern Kinetic Rounds: This vehicle's kinetic (APFSDS) rounds are very effective against ERA kits.

This MBT's front is protected by composite armor. Composite armor consists of combined layers of steel and other material and offers excellent protection against HEAT shells and ATGMs. Its steel sides and rear are considerably more vulnerable. The improved third generation ERA kit offers excellent protection against standard HEAT rounds or warheads, and partial protection against kinetic rounds and tandem HEAT warheads.
