- PELE: good penetration potential and can deal major damage to crew and internal modules.

Player Recommendations[edit | edit source]
Speedy, powerful, and without a shred of armor on its frame, the VBR is a lightning flanker and sniper, capable of dealing massive damage with its four-shot salvo of ATGMs and quickly relocating to avoid counterattacks. When played right, the VBR is a deadly threat to oblivious, low health enemy vehicles whose attention can be drawn away by a teammate MBT. Since the VBR has little in the way of protection, care is required.
Pros and Cons[edit | edit source]
Pros[edit | edit source]
- Excellent camouflage rating
- Very good top speed
- Very good gun depression
- Devastating burst damage with ATGM launcher
Cons[edit | edit source]
- Negligible armor
- Long reload on the four shot ATGM
- One crew member limits improvement options
- Takes heavy damage from falling
Upgrade Suggestions[edit | edit source]
As the VBR is all about firepower and mobility, upgrades should be accordingly focused. For mobility, upgrading to the Improved Wheels will improve between-position mobility, while firepower upgrades like the EOSS System and Milan 3 ATGM will increase damage output.
Retrofit Suggestions[edit | edit source]
- Advanced Muzzle Reference System
- Augmented Optics
- Improved Gun Breech
- Improved Pioneer Tool Kit
Commander and Crew Skill Suggestions[edit | edit source]
- Commander: Sabrina Washington, to improve the camo rating, view range, and crew stats
- Driver: Spin to Win, Off-Road Driving

The steel chassis of the VBR is sufficient for some protection against small arms fire, but it is entirely undefended against stronger munitions such as machineguns or autocannons. |

Panhard as a company was doing fairly well in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The VBL (Véhicule Blindé Léger) light armored vehicle, developed in 1988, was a massive success with around 2400 built since 1990. It is no wonder then that an attempt was made to follow up on the success of the VBL with another such vehicle, designated VBR (Véhicule Blindé a Roues). Development of the VBR started in 2001 as a private venture by Panhard and was based on two defining traits: increased payload compared to the VBL and affordability.
While the basic design was taken from the VBL, the VBR was made bigger to increase the vehicle's carrying capacity. This allowed it to carry not just more cargo, but potentially also heavier weapon systems, including remote-controlled turrets. To make the vehicle affordable as well, a number of civilian components was used in the vehicle's construction (including the engine and transmission).
A single prototype of the VBR was built in 2002 and revealed to the public the same year. It attracted some attention back in 2001, but no contracts were ever finalized. Libya was looking into purchasing a number of VBRs, but the volatile political situation and subsequent fall of Qaddafi’s regime prevented the deal from going through. Russia too showed some mild interest, but little more than that.
