The Type 99B MBT is a fictional variant of the Chinese Type 99A Main Battle Tank that was posted on the Chinese Weibo social network around 2016. The author's idea was to create an "urban combat" version of Type 99A by adding improved ERA with cage armor covering the rear, hard-kill APS, improved sensors and FCS with advanced optics, 360 degrees vision system for the crew and a roof-mounted RCWS. The rest of the vehicle remained roughly the same.

This MBT's front is protected by composite armor. Composite armor consists of combined layers of steel and other material and offers excellent protection against HEAT shells and ATGMs. Its steel sides and rear are considerably more vulnerable.
