The name TAM stands for "Tanque Argentino Mediano", or Argentinian Medium Tank in English, making it fairly self-explanatory, because that's what TAM is about. In the 1970s, Thyssen Henschel developed a light tank for Argentina to compensate for its weak infrastructure that was unable to support heavy MBTs. The tank was poorly armored but decently armed and was purchased in the early 1980s with 256 pieces built between 1979 and 1983 (and in 1994).

However, in the 1990s, the vehicle was already quite obsolete. A number of unsuccessful upgrade programs were launched as a result, but all proved too expensive for Argentina's frail economy. The latest was the TAM 2IP, the main feature of which was an Israeli-made armor kit. With it, the protection somewhat increased, but the upgrade talks with IMI went nowhere and the whole project was quietly ditched.

  • Ready Rack: This vehicle features a Ready Rack, which consists of several easily accessible rounds. It can fire several rounds in rapid succession, after which the reload time increases. Ready Rack reloads automatically when not in combat.
  • HESH Rounds: This vehicle can fire special Squash Head rounds. These are extremely effective against angled armor that is typical for Soviet tanks.
  • Engine Boost: This vehicle's engine rev limiter can be overridden to significantly increase speed and acceleration for a short period of time.
  • Laser Lock: This vehicle is equipped with a special laser designator that, when activated, allows you to fire with pinpoint accuracy, but your vehicle will emit a laser beam visible to all players, marking your position on the battlefield.
