The T-90MS (named "Tagil" after the city UVZ is known for, Nizhny Tagil) Main Battle Tank is a Russian export version of a heavily upgraded T-90A MBT, first shown to the public during the Russian Expo arms expedition in September 2011. Contrary to popular belief, the Tagil actually appeared before the T-90M Proryv-3 Russian MBT and is not derived from it, even though export versions typically only appear after the launch of a Russian domestic one due to the need of extra promotion provided by the adoption by the Russian army. It is currently offered for export by Uralvagonzavod and is one of the best and most sophisticated MBTs on the market, featuring a wide variety of improvements over its predecessor.
It is heavier than the previous export variant of the T-90. This is partially due to a new turret that offers improved resistance to all kinds of shells. It is also well protected by the new Relikt ERA system. Although this export variant does not feature the Shtora APS in the configuration offered by UVZ, this element can also be added, should the customer wish.
In order to keep the mobility of the vehicle in line with the previous versions, the increased weight is compensated by the new V-92S2F 1130hp diesel engine paired with an automatic transmission, capable of making the tank go as fast as 60 km/h. The vehicle is armed with a powerful 125mm 2A45M-5 smoothbore gun (along with a new loading mechanism and a new Kalina FCS) capable of firing various kinds of ammunition, including the Refleks and Invar guided missiles.
The Tagil has in recent years been put through its paces at several of the largest military expos and according to some reports, India ordered a large batch of this variant for its elite armor units. The performance of the T-90MS is certainly impressive, even when compared to the most modern western vehicles (surpassing them in certain aspects) and several nations have shown interest in this newest export variant of the T-90, including India, Egypt and Kuwait.Nightsinger[ | ]

Eclipse Lore: The Nightsinger is a modified one-of-a-kind export T-90MS issued to Gail Espinoza as her first tank command. The tank was hand-painted by her and she has since received many a compliment her artistry skills. She'd always accept them with a sad smile and the words "In another life perhaps" without ever mentioning the reasoning behind the name, the lonely bird and the dark forest theme.
The vehicle lacks most of the options offered by the Russians for export, most notably the remote-controlled machinegun turret and the advanced APS. It's unclear how Perihelion acquired this vehicle but it would be reasonable to assume that it was found by Ezra Rosenstein during many of the post-1997 "garage sale" offers that included even experimental and hard-to-find vehicles from company repositories.
Modern armored vehicles are typically not available to mercenary outfits and the fact Ezra's been able to acquire such a cutting edge piece of hardware speaks highly of his skills as an arms merchant, something he constantly claims he's not, fancying himself a 'purveyor of things mundane and arcane' instead. But, as David Murdoch likes to tease him, if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck...Vehicle Traits[ | ]
- Armored: This vehicle's armor can withstand a lot of punishment, allowing it to survive even serious firefights.
- Heavy Weapon: This vehicle carries one of the largest weapons around with significantly increased damage per shot.

This MBT's front is protected by composite armor. Composite armor consists of combined layers of steel and other material and offers excellent protection against HEAT shells and ATGMs. Its steel sides and rear are considerably more vulnerable. The third generation ERA kit offers excellent protection against standard HEAT rounds or warheads, and partial protection against kinetic rounds and tandem HEAT warheads. |
