The M1 AGDS is a tier 9 Premium Tank Destroyer originating from the United States. It was a Campaign Reward and was briefly available through Loot Crates. It can also be obtained from time to time through special offers.

  • Armored: This vehicle's armor can withstand a lot of punishment, allowing it to survive even serious firefights.
  • Slayer: This vehicle carries an extremely powerful and accurate weapon, allowing it to destroy enemy armor at long distances.
  • Missile Salvo: This vehicle may fire multiple ATGMs or unguided rockets in a short period of time, potentially overwhelming enemy defenses such as the APS.
  • Gas Turbine: this vehicle is powered by a gas turbine, providing smoother acceleration compared to an ordinary diesel.
  • Trained Crew: this vehicle comes with a fully trained level 5 crew.

Player Recommendations[]

It's a rocket boat with twin 35mm autocannons and lighter armor than lvl 9 Abrams but heavier than its lvl 9 peer Leclerc T-40, as well as 24 rockets in two 12 homing rocket salvos which can be fired in quick succesion with few sec in between each rocket. The 6 tubes on either side of a rather good armored turret fire rockets fairly quickly, and on a good hit deal nearly 1000 damage. It has a T6 equivalent M1 hull, and the turret has T8 armor, so it can’t brawl, despite looking like the XM1A3 or M1A2. It is best played at a far distance as a “dump and hide machine”.  2-5 ATGMs can usually kill any opponent, and HE and AP cannon rounds are a good follow-up. Rockets fire up and out from the top of the turret at a much shallower angle than the Swingfire, and the cannon elevation is nearly vertical.

Pros and Cons[]

  • Excellent rate of fire
  • Massive Burst Damage from 12 Missile salvo
  • Reasonably good Mobility
  • Well armored turret
  • Fast lock on

  • Weaker armor than a tank
  • Slow
  • Bad visibility and camouflage
  • Very long reload on the Missiles after salvo of 12 is spent
  • Only 2 salvos available
  • A minimum distance of 45m required for ATGMs to hit anything because of shooting angle

The Abrams AGDS (Armored Ground Defense System) was a vehicle concept and proposal, drafted in July 1996 by Dr. Asher H. Sharoni (a former colonel in the Israeli Defense Forces) and Lawrence D. Bacon from a Californian company called Western Design Howden. It was supposed to be an air-defense vehicle, protecting the Abrams formations against flying threats, although its weaponry can be deployed against ground targets as well. The United States were, at the time, sorely lacking a vehicle comparable to the Russian Shilka and one of the ideas was to use the Abrams chassis paired with a new turret to produce an armored AA gun that would be able to keep up with the American tank units. This plan was never realized and the vehicle stayed only on paper.
