Contents
Features[edit | edit source]
- Heavy armor : this vehicle's armor bounces more shots and takes more hits
- High caliber: the high caliber weaponry deals an increased damage.
Player Recommendations[edit | edit source]
The Leopard 2A6 is little more than an uparmored and upgunned variant of the standard 2A5, which plays very similarly. With medium armor, good mobility, and an accurate gun, the 2A6 is a mid-range sniper and flanker. While not as heavily armored as other T8 MBTs, it is still capable of close fighting if needed.
Pros and Cons[edit | edit source]
Pros[edit | edit source]
- Excellent gun depression
- Accurate
- Strong turret armor
- Frontal hull is buffed in the recent rebalance. With the armor upgrade, the upper frontal plate is no longer an easy target to shoot at head-on.
- High fire rate combined with high penetration makes this tank a steady damage source to some of the tougher opponents.
- Short hardkill APS re-arm time
Cons[edit | edit source]
- Slow aim-time
- Large weakspot under the gun mantlet even after the rebalance.
- Mediocre hull armor (Without the armor upgrade).
- With the design of the ammo rack being at the front of the hull, combined with vulnerable lower frontal glacis, the tank can be easily penetrated and lit up by ATGMs or Sabot rounds from Tier 8 and onward if aimed appropriately (the tier you're playing at).
Upgrade Suggestions[edit | edit source]
Upgrading the Spall Liner and Appliqué protection pack will largely improve the Leopard 2A6's overall survivability. As the 2A6's upgrade tree emphasizes firepower, together with the later access to DM63 shells, early research should focus on this as well. Upgrading to the Improved Gun Stabilizer and Improved Gun Breech, along with better ammunition, will improve firepower against enemies, while minimizing exposure to return fire.
Retrofit Suggestions[edit | edit source]
- Advanced Muzzle Reference System
- Ballistic Computer v2
- Improved Gun Breech
- Improved Pioneer Tool Kit (Quickly fix the tank and therefore protects it from immobilization, broken gun breach, ammo rack etc.)
- Air Induction Precleaner v2 (The frontal hull of this tank an take some hits now. Quickly turn this tank with its stronger frontal armor toward the enemy can drastically reduce the chance of return fire penetration, and of course the tank can quickly turn sideway if the ammo rack is not protected by the terrain, thus improves its survivability)
Commander and Crew Skill Suggestions[edit | edit source]
- Commander: Freja Højbjerg, to dramatically increase turret rotation speed(max 25.5%), aim time(max 20%) for better gun handling, together with additional increased passive repair speed (max 23.8%), crew(max 20%)/component(max 12.5%) toughness and crew/component damage dealt (max 18.8%); Alexander Cortez for AP users, to improve the below-average single round damage and increases overall toughness of the vehicle, who gives a 100% chance to deal max damage at colonel; Philipp Holzklau, minor improve to the aim speed (max 8.8%) and reload time (max 2.2%), drastically increases passive repair rate (max 40%).
- Driver: Spin to Win, Off-Road Driving
- Gunner: Sharpshooter, Quick Draw
- Loader: Rapid Fire, Secured Ammunition

Composite boxes on the driver's side of the hull and a portion of the lower glacis, and high-hardness steel plating on the upper glacis and turret roof, increase urban survival significantly. |

History[edit | edit source]
Class: Main Battle Tank
Developed: 1997-2000
Service: 2001+
Vehicles Built: 867
Operators: Germany, Netherlands, Canada, Greece, Spain, Finland
Until recently the latest variant of the Leopard 2 series, the Leopard 2A6 is essentially a Leopard 2A5 with a longer L/55 cannon, replacing the older L/44 120mm smoothbore by Rheinmetall. The FCS has been upgraded as well and the tank can fire new LKE II APFSDS rounds with tungsten penetrators (the German military does not use depleted uranium due to environmental and health concerns). Several export offshoots of this tank exist along with a version with improved armor built for asymmetric warfare, which was used in Afghanistan. Until wider proliferation of the 2A7 takes place, this variant will remain the most advanced service Leopard 2 model.
