Char Leclerc is the current main service MBT of the French military and one of the most advanced tanks in the world. The combination of its special composite armor, powerful engine and complex electronics offers unique combat opportunities. France received 406 MBTs in three production runs between 1992 and 2007. Additionally, 388 Leclerc MBTs with hot climate modifications and different engines were produced between 1994 and 2000 for the United Arab Emirates. The Leclerc development is ongoing with the AZUR urban combat armor kit being available since 2006 and the recent introduction of the MBT to the Scorpion integration program. In September 2020, it was announced that 80 of the UAE Leclercs would be donated to the Kingdom of Jordan.
