Features[edit | edit source]
- Heavy armor : this vehicle's armor bounces more shots and takes more hits
- High caliber : the high caliber weaponry deals an increased damage
- HESH: can even penetrate armor with large hit angles
Player Recommendations[edit | edit source]
The final version in the Chieftain line, the Chieftain 900 is much more heavily armored than previous vehicles, and while it carries the same gun, its role has changed compared to the Chieftain Mk. 2 and Mk. 10. With a heavy armor package, the Chieftain 900 can play a more offensive role, helping to push on when it has backup. But while the armor is much better, it is not perfect. The large lower front plate and slower mobility, compared to its peers, means that it can be easily outfought and outmaneuvered if the driver is not careful. Its ability fire HESH Ammunition, a trait of nearly all British vehicles, remains a core piece of gameplay for this vehicle. HESH can do significant frontal damage to other hull down vehicles attempting a sniper battle, while putting out improved module damage against lighter vehicles, preventing them from harassing the Chieftain.
Pros and Cons[edit | edit source]
Pros[edit | edit source]
- HESH rounds allow for consistent damage into the front of heavily armored targets
- Excellent gun depression
- Relatively large health pool
Cons[edit | edit source]
- Generally poor mobility
- Very large and tall target
- Poor aim time
- Extremely vulnerable to ATGM fire
Upgrade Suggestions[edit | edit source]
While not as sluggish as the previous Chieftain models, first upgrading to the MB 837 Ka-501 Diesel Engine will heavily improve mobility. Firepower upgrades such as the Improved Fire Control, Improved Laser Rangefinder, and Improved Ready Racks will help to offset the slow aim time and increase the Chieftain 900’s overall damage output.
Retrofit Suggestions[edit | edit source]
- Improved Gun Breech
- Advanced Fire Control
- Advanced Muzzle Reference System
Commander and Crew Skill Suggestions[edit | edit source]
- Commander: Ioannis Sanna, for increasing accuracy, turret traverse, and aim time, as well as the Firestarter ability mixing well with the HESH rounds.
- Driver: Off-Road Driving, Spin to Win
- Gunner: Quick Draw, Sharpshooter
- Loader: Rapid Fire, Explosive Shells

The Chieftain 900 by Vickers was a privately developed, experimental version of the Chieftain, designed in the early 1980s for export. It included a new turret, better composite armor and a more powerful 900hp engine (hence the name). While it wasn't successful, some of its elements were used in the development of the Challenger MBT.
