==History== Class: Fire Support Vehicle
Developed: 1975
Service: 1980+
Vehicles Built: 411
Operators: France, Argentine, Mexico, Ivory Coast, Chad, Gabon, Iraq, Nigeria The ERC 90 (also known as “Sagaie”) is a French heavily armed reconnaissance vehicle and tank destroyer, named after a type of African spear. It was developed by Panhard specifically for export, although France did purchase 192 in the 1980s because it was light, easily transportable and therefore ideal for the units expected to be deployed in France's former colonies, giving them the firepower to knock out older Soviet T-54 and T-55 tanks often used in Africa.
