Crew members are used to perform specific duties. The positions available depend on the model and type of vehicle. Crew can only be used in a specific vehicle and cannot be transferred to another, as they are bound to that vehicle only. Even if you sell a tank and re-buy it at a later date, the crew of said vehicle will still retain the progress and skills you put on them since playing it. The maximum level of a crew member is 5.

Positions

  • Commander - The Commander is to run the unit as he or she sees fit.
  • Driver - The Driver is responsible for the speed and steering of the vehicle.
  • Gunner - The Gunner is responsible for weapon targeting and firing.
  • Loader - The Loader is responsible for reloading the vehicle's weapons in between shots.

Skills

Main article: Skill

Players can choose skills for their crew, based on their style of play and vehicle features. Crew skills must be selected carefully; while they cannot reduce the efficiency of basic tank characteristics, some skills will perform better than others for certain vehicles. With the correctly chosen skills, vehicles should instead become easier to operate, be quicker to reload or shoot more accurately.

Crew skills are not a defining criteria for the hardware, but they do play an important role on the battlefield. For example, the difference between a level 1 crew and, say a level 5 crew will be considerable.

Crew members get four choices for skills, but may only pick two. Once upon reaching level two and again upon reaching level four. The base qualification(s) or effects of each crew member increases with every level.

Commanders

Main article: Commander

Commanders are a separate fighting unit, forming part of the tank crew and acting as a key element of any team.
