This Russian-developed vehicle, also called the Terminator, was designed to accompany tanks and protect them against various non-MBT threats. It combines the benefits of an Armored Fighting Vehicle with the protection and maneuverability of a Main Battle Tank. This 2017 Terminator variant is also called "Syrian pattern" since a single vehicle was transported to Syria and shown there to the public. Of note are the interesting "soft" ERA elements, installed in "bags" hanging on the vehicle's sides. Contrary to some propaganda reports, the vehicle did not participate in combat.

The BMPT series of vehicles offers a combination of a MBT-class hull with composite armor, an unmanned turret that takes reduced damage, and a third generation ERA kit, offering excellent protection against standard HEAT rounds or warheads, and partial protection against kinetic rounds and tandem HEAT warheads.
