This is an upgraded Challenger 1, intended for the Jordanian Armed Forces under the designation Al-Hussein. It offers a number of improvements compared to the original Challenger, including the replacement of the main gun with a Swiss 120mm RUAG CTG smoothbore. A prototype unveiled in Jordan as early as in 2004 but never got any traction and the project was ultimately canceled in 2016 when the Jordanians decided to phase out their Challenger 1 MBTs and replace them with Centauro Tank Destroyers.

This MBT's front is protected by the Chobham composite armor. Composite armor consists of combined layers of steel and other material and offers excellent protection against HEAT shells and ATGMs. Its steel sides and rear are considerably more vulnerable.
