The AMX-30B2 is an improved version of the AMX-30B Main Battle Tank, featuring a new Fire Control System, an upgraded engine, improved suspension and new APFSDS ammunition. It was the final mass-produced version of the AMX-30 and remained in service in France until its replacement by Leclerc. In 1998, roughly two battalions worth of AMX-30B2 tanks were upgraded with fittings for the new Brenus ERA by GIAT in order to provide improved protection for the units that would be the first to get into serious battles.

Seahawks Lore: After the signing of the Bordeaux Treaty, most of the corporations established their own military branches and the (until then) unregulated PMCs quickly fell in line, submitting to the Private Military Force authority in Istanbul. However, a certain number of mercenaries refused to give up their freedom and retreated to various third world countries, mostly to Africa. For the corporations, however, having groups of loose cannons running around threatening their interests was not an option. In the months that followed the treaty, they bankrolled a wide-scale purge of such rogue elements, called Operation Sentinel after the largest of the bands.

The Sentinel was a ruthless group of mercenaries recruited from the defunct French Foreign Legion, having deserted en masse following what effectively was a civil war in France, taking much of the French heavy equipment with them. They were decimated in a week-long battle by the Crimson Reavers. Both sides took enormous losses but the Sentinel could afford them less, which ultimately meant its end. The few survivors that managed to escape scattered all across Africa, a grim reminder for those who'd defy corporate regimes.
